Memory Characters remember every moment. Past interactions and chats are stored and shape how they engage with you next time.

Backstory Learn all about a character's backstory — their work, their traits, and everything that makes them who they are.

Mood Mood shifts with the conversation. Characters show different expressions depending on what you talk about.

Voice messages Talk freely with voice messages, get voice replies, and hear any text message played back as voice. (Subscription required)

Be seen Show your real-time emotions with a selfie — characters respond the moment they see your photo.

How stories work

Action Use an Action to do something other than chatting — describe a move and the world responds with a physical or circumstantial result.

Story Launch an infinite adventure — automatically genred or pre-outlined by other players — split into episodes, each one generated specifically for you.

Finding your messages & history

Where did my chat history go? How do I see old messages?

You're likely in Immersive Chat Mode, which hides earlier messages so the conversation feels more in-the-moment. To see your full history, tap the three lines (top-left of the chat), then the clock icon. You can also view records across all characters from your profile icon (top-right) → Your Page → Memories at the bottom.

Where do I see messages a character sent me?

Tap your profile icon (top-right), then open the Mailbox (upper left). That's where messages, pictures, and personal mail from your characters appear.

Start a group chat

1 Open the character menu While chatting with an AI friend, tap your avatar in the top-right corner.
2 Introduce them to your friends Choose "Introduce [name] to my friends" to begin setting up the group.
3 Add more people Add up to 4 more AI characters, or invite 20+ real-life friends, then start the group chat.

Common chat questions

My character's replies show garbled text

This is rare. If it happens once or twice, tap refresh on the right side of the speech bubble to regenerate the reply. If it keeps happening, contact support with a screenshot of the conversation.

Why does the AI keep getting my gender wrong?

This usually happens when your name reads as gender-neutral. You can set your pronoun in Preferences (see Interact → "Set your gender and preferences"), and/or pick a more clearly gendered display name: profile icon (top-right) → profile → edit your name (lower-left).

Once you're comfortable chatting, you can take more control over how conversations unfold — steering a character's behavior and understanding how your job title is set.

Steering a character

How do I steer my character's behavior or attitude?

You can shape the story directly with action descriptions or by editing the character's memory — both guide the AI's responses. Other approaches: set the scene at the start, steer the conversation inside a group chat, or adjust the character's traits.

How is my job title decided, and can I change it?

Your job title is assigned by the system based on the vision you chose at sign-up plus your current in-app assets and activities, and it updates as you progress. You can change your vision at the top of the task board. For roleplay, you can also just tell your AI friends directly who you are.
